MISS BEA

Bea was in her seventies and was well-known for her sweetness and friendliness to everybody.
Her pastor paid her a visit one early spring afternoon, and she welcomed him into her Victorian parlor.

She encouraged him to have a seat while she made some tea.

The young pastor saw a cut crystal bowl sitting on top of her ancient pump organ as he sat facing it. A condom floating in the water, of all things.

Imagine his astonishment and disbelief. Imagine his astonishment! Miss Bea had to have flipped or something! But he couldn’t bring up the unusual sight in her parlor.

The pastor attempted to suppress his interest regarding the bowl of water and its peculiar floater, but it eventually got the best of him, and he couldn’t stop it.

“I wonder if you would tell me about this, Miss Bea,” he remarked, pointing to the dish.

“Oh, sure,” she said, “isn’t it fantastic?” I spotted this tiny bundle while wandering around downtown last fall.

The directions said to put it on the organ, keep it moist, and it would prevent disease. “And you know… I haven’t had a cold all winter!”
