An Office Manager Was Given The Task
An office manager at Wal-Mart was given the task of hiring someone to fill a job opening.
After sorting through a stack of resumes, he found four people who were equally qualified.
He decided to call the four in and ask them only one question.
Their answer would determine which of them would get the job.
As the four gathered around the conference room table that day, the interviewer asked,
“What is the quickest thing you’ve ever seen?”
Recognizing the first individual on his right, the man said,
“AN IDEA”. It simply occurred to you. There’s no notice that it’s coming; it suddenly appears. “Thought is the quickest thing I’ve ever seen.”
“That’s very good!” replied the interviewer. “And now you, sir?” he asked the second man.
“Hmm… let me see.”
A blink! It comes and goes, and you don’t know that it ever happened. “A blink is the fastest thing I know of.”
“Excellent!” said the interviewer. “The blink of an eye; that’s a very popular cliché for speed.”
He then turned to face the third man, who was pondering his response.
“Well, at my dad’s ranch, you step out of the house, and there’s a light switch on the wall.” When you flip the switch from across the pasture, the light in the barn turns on in less than a second. “Turning on a light is, indeed, the quickest thing I can think of.”
The third response wowed the interviewer, who felt he had discovered his man.
“It’s difficult to outrun the speed of light,” he remarked.
Turning to Bubba, the elderly and final man, the interviewer posed the same question.
Old Bubba replied,
“After hearing the three previous answers, it’s obvious to me that the fastest known thing is diarrhea.”
“WHAT?” said the interviewer, stunned by the response.
“Oh, I can explain,” Old Bubba replied.
“You know, the other day I wasn’t feeling well, so I dashed to the restroom. But before I could THINK, BLINK, or TURN ON THE LIGHT, I had………..my trousers! …………………..
Old Bubba is now the new “Greeter” at a Wal-Mart.
